Google Panda algorithm which was released by Google in January was updated several times. The recent update affected 12% (11.8%) of websites in the US, which is quite a significant number. Basically, search engine algorithm update affects 2-3% of websites. For now, Google Panda impacts the websites in the US, however it may be rolled out worldwide in the future.
Panda targets improving the rankings of websites with high-quality content and decreasing the ones with low quality, shallow content. Low-quality content websites are divided into two categories: “content farms” and “scrappers.”
“Content farms” are the websites with low levels of original content. A number of websites contain content which says absolutely nothing to people; either the original content is too low or too briefly written.
Example. How to lose weight? For losing weight, it’s recommended to eat apples in the morning.
This is very trivial. Explain why apples, talk about the best foods to eat to lose weight and how many times a day to eat. Make sure you give maximum valuable information.
“Scrappers” are the websites that do not have an original content. Copy/pasted content is low-ranked by Google. While some websites do this through legitimate means, such as using RSS files with permission, the others simply steal content without any rights. Stealing content from other websites will negatively affect your website’s PR and SERP.
Accordingly, nothing is better than the original well-written content. If there’s something you can write yourself and do it quite well, then do it. Make sure, you know what you write about and your reader will get the idea as well.
