Link building is the golden rule of SEO. Search engine optimization greatly depends on the quality of inbound links. Accordingly, building links on trustworthy, authority websites makes sense.
Before you go ahead with your link building campaign, ensure you’re aware of some link building strategies and tips.
Social networking. Social networking has a high impact on promotion of your brand/product/website. Today, it’s impossible to go without Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google plus. Do not just create and update profiles but ensure they are well-organized; fill in all the required information. For instance, links from Google plus are do-follow and this is a great opportunity to build links by adding them in your profile. Besides, business pages matter more than individual pages. Business pages with thousands of followers/ circles show up more in search results than individual pages with millions of followers. Going beyond Google plus will help you both understand how Google plus works and build quality backlinks.
Article submission. This is another great SEO tip for link building. Two of the sources that I would recommend you to register are ezinearticles.com and articlesbase.com. However, before submitting any article, ensure you’re familiar with the website’s guidelines. For instance, in ezinearticles, you cannot include a URL in your post but you have the resource box for link building purposes. Additionally, writing only for advertising purposes but not for people will take you nowhere. If the content sounds unnatural, it will be definitely rejected. So make sure, you follow all the guidelines before submitting any article for approval.
Directory submission. Undoubtedly, dmoz and dmegs are the two of the best directories on the web. However, unless your website is really quality and well-optimized , it makes no sense to send your URL for review. Keep in mind that if it’s rejected once, it’s going to be harder to get an approval later.
Business directories. You can find many reputable business directories on the web. For instance yelp, merchantcircle, manta and more. Yelp and manta will suit you only if your business is USA-based. On the other hand, merchantcircle is available for the businesses around the world. So choose a business directory according to your business purposes and needs, i.e. consider reputation, traffic, terms, etc.
Blogging. If you want to boost your rankings in search engines, don’t forget about blogging. I personally, can’t go without it. Here are three of the greatest sources that I would recommend you: wordpress, blogspot and tumblr. Again, make sure the content you put on the blogging platforms is unique and keyword-targeted. Take into account that blogging is a great way to build links, update website and optimize keywords. You may take a look at my blogs on tumblr and blogger to have a better understanding of the relation between link building and blogging.
